Before you start Treat EXMP as a dealer-conduct and exempt-product decision exam, not a product-definition list. Build one table for issuer structures, one for sector products, and one for KYC/KYP/suitability controls. Review each product through three questions: who issues it, what can go wrong, and which client facts would make it unsuitable. Recommended tracks Track Best fit Sequence 30-day intensive strong securities background markets and regulation -> client dealing and private placements -> issuer structures and sector products -> KYC/KYP/suitability and mixed review 60-day balanced most working candidates one to two topics per week, with suitability review every week 90-day part-time candidates new to private markets slower first pass through capital markets, issuer structures, and product risks before timed practice
Weight-aware order Stage Why it comes here Overview of capital markets and regulatory framework establishes why exempt-market rules and distribution controls exist Compliance and dealing with clients makes later product recommendations accountable to documentation and conduct rules Private placement process connects exemptions, offering documents, restrictions, and investor access Issuer structures explains how legal form changes investor rights and risks Sector products builds real estate, mortgage, flow-through, mining, oil and gas, and hedge fund distinctions KYC, KYP, and suitability highest-weight decision layer and the best final review anchor
Weekly review rhythm Block What to do Reading Learn one topic and write the decision issue it creates for a dealing representative. Product map Add issuer, risk, liquidity, valuation, and suitability notes for each product type. Practice Drill short sets after each topic, then switch to mixed timed sets in the final third. Miss log Classify each miss as regulation, issuer structure, product risk, KYC, KYP, or suitability.
Final stretch Rebuild the suitability chain for every major product family. Practise rejecting attractive-yield answers when liquidity, concentration, or risk tolerance does not fit.
