FP Canada CFP Vignette Practice Guide

FP Canada CFP vignette practice guide for case-cluster practice, client-file triage, study planning, cheat sheet review, FAQs, and resources.

Use this page when your CFP study needs more case context. The vignette route trains client-file triage: identifying the main planning issue, deciding which facts matter, and choosing the strongest next recommendation after several planning domains interact.

This is vignette practice, not a claim to reproduce FP Canada’s constructed-response scoring. Use it to strengthen case reading and single-best-answer judgment, then combine it with official FP Canada resources and any constructed-response practice your education provider requires.

This guide now includes chapter and section articles for CFP vignette practice across all seven planning domains. Use the left navigation to practise case triage for discovery, financial management, investments, insurance, tax, retirement, estate planning, and professional judgment.

Sample Exam Question

A client case shows excess RRSP contribution room, unstable income, a disabled adult child, an uninsured business loan, and no updated will. Which review habit is most likely to improve CFP vignette performance?

  • A. Solve the registered-plan question first because RRSP room is numerical.
  • B. List every fact in the case, then answer from memory.
  • C. Identify the main planning risk, rank the binding constraints, and test whether each recommendation creates a tax, cash-flow, insurance, retirement, or estate consequence.
  • D. Focus on the product mentioned most often because repeated product references usually signal the answer.

Answer: C. Vignettes reward prioritization. The strongest review process identifies the dominant planning issue and tests interactions across domains before committing to an answer.
